On Oct. 28 Kodiak AI announced a binding agreement to put the Kodiak Driver on 75 trucks owned and operated by Fresno, California carrier DTL Transport.

DTL owns and operates the trucks. Kodiak charges per mile under its Driver-as-a-Service model. The rate and contract term were not disclosed.

The deal takes Kodiak from hauling sand in the Permian Basin to a contract for public highways.

DTL is a family-run carrier with more than 36 years in business and over 100 trucks, hauling dry and refrigerated freight.

Founder and CEO Don Burnette said the model is "tailor-made for commercial trucking."
